Parrish Community HS

  • How long have you been attending FCA?

I didn't have an FCA huddle at my school until I started one in February of 2022. My dad had done it as a kid and it made a huge impact on his life and I wanted to give that opportunity to myself and others at my school. I went to a leadership camp through FCA in Georgia last summer and it was truly a life changing experience for me and has encouraged me to lead my huddle and speak more openly about the gospel wherever I go.

  • What sport(s) do you play?

I have been playing football since I was 5 years old in a flag football league. It became what I was obsessed with and knew I wanted to play it as long as I could. I now play at Parrish Community High School where I am a captain on the team and get the opportunity to play with my brother and some of my closest friends. I also am competing in weightlifting this year so that I can increase my strength and size for football for my senior season.

  • What are your plans after High School?

After high school I want to play Division 1 football at Samford University and receive my masters in Sports Business. My sister goes to Samford now and it is where my mom went way back when. I fell in love with the campus and the culture of the school after just seeing it a couple of times. I hope to enroll there early next January and start my college career and take the next big step in my life.

  • What's your favorite sports movie?

Remember the Titans. It is such a great story about how football, the sport I love, can bring a divided group of people together. It also is such a cool example of relentless effort and not giving up to achieve what you have set your mind to. The movie inspires me every time I watch it and that is why it is my favorite.

  • What's your favorite scripture?

2 Corinthians 5:21. It says that "for our sake He made Him to be sin who knew no sin so that in Him we might become the righteousness of God." I love this verse because it so clearly explains what Christ did for us and the magnitude of what it does for us. We don't deserve what he did yet we can become the righteousness of God because of it.

  • Why is Christ in sports so important?

Christ is so important in sports because through sports we have such a big reach and influence on other people around us whether it's our coaches, teammates, opponents, and even refs. With this influence we have the chance to be the light to others around us and represent Christ with our words and actions and possibly share his story with someone.
